It's no mystery--it's been a hard year for our little family. Eight months without a real income could do just about anyone in. Then, after months of praying and applying for every job we could think of at home, we finally landed a job in California. We were NOT excited about moving, but we had exhausted all our other options so we knew it was what we were supposed to do. *Move to California?!?!?* I thought that was pretty much like packing up and leaving Zion to live in Sodom and Gomorrah. It made absolutely no sense to me. But seriously. God DOES work in mysterious ways! This has been such a testimony builder to me--as everywhere my logic didn't make sense, the Lord provided a way. Anytime I thought something would be simply horrible, it just really wasn't that bad.
For example:
***The week before we moved, Logan started crying or whining within two minutes of any car ride. We had to drive over 1300 miles across the country, and we made it without a single major breakdown! He's actually seemed to really enjoy this whole experience--new people to meet and places to explore!
***Travis's parents were able to get work off to fly out to Texas and help us drive our truck.
***We were able to find a place to live in ONE day within 10 minutes of Travis's work.
***Honeyville approved a moving allowance for us.
***Travis's new boss, Tyler, actually got three guys from work and came with them to completely unload our truck!
***Financial help and resources from our family. It has been immensely humbling to receive during this time, and while embarrassing to admit, it would be so wrong to not admit their hand in our survival.
And what seems like the biggest miracle to me:
***At 5pm, our old apartment still hadn't verified our rental history and was closed for the day. Our leasing agent emphatically stated we could not get into the apartment without it. We pleaded with her to try different things and finally convinced her to call her supervisor and ask for an exception and WE GOT IT! All I can think is that Heavenly Father softened the supervisor's heart because the agent had been so sure there was no way!
I am so grateful for this experience and for everyone's help getting here. I miss my home, friends and family terribly, but these experiences are just further proof that this is where we're supposed to be right now. Now all we need to is sell the house...........one more miracle??? =)
Hey, you never know. In Ward Counsel they were talking about a house that went up for sale and was only on the market for three days this month. Since it's moving season...maybe yours will sell fast. Plus, it's not trashed like so many other houses out there.
ReplyDeleteMissing you...
Cam, I love this. I'm so happy things are falling into place. I kind of feel like this is how things worked for us moving here. Didn't want it--but the Lord did. How do you fight that??
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to see pics of your new place! And i'm soooo happy Logan did well in the car.
